Huge Antique Egyptian Pharaonic Museum Exhibition Bust Replica
*SUPER RARE (Very Large) 12 Pound (5200 Gram), 13 Inches Tall, 6 Inches Wide, 5 Inches Deep Antique Egyptian Pharaonic Museum Exhibition Bust Replica Professionally Made for a Museum as an Official Exhibition Display Piece in the 1960’s. On offer here is a super interesting (super valuable) 18th dynasty Egyptian block statue professional reproduction with a shape and size very suited to being used as an Exquisite Professional Museum Display Piece. As a display statue it is a good example of post Amarna style, the fine Headdress and facial style suggest the reign of Horemheb. It is an intriguing piece due to the remnant cartouche and hieroglyphs persisting despite many statues of this time period being destroyed by conquering invaders. This was a rampant practice during Horemheb's reign and into the 19th dynasty where Amarna period statues were either destroyed or re-purposed after the heresy of Akhenaten had run its course.
A beautiful cartouche has been carved on the right arm of this large statue that not only adds mystery but elegance to this beautiful masterpiece of ancient Egyptian Statuary Art that has an aged slate black / gray patina. Egyptian block statues are a distinctive statue type first seen in the middle kingdom and were designed to last an eternity. Strictly royal they are representations of a very noble class with inscriptions to be read to keep their memory alive. The elegantly contoured shape of this upper torso and Pharaonic style headdress and human upper body is utterly breathtaking. No one can look at this very rare antique and not be astonished by it. This example is particularly fine with a distinctive armband and cartouche of ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphics and elegant facial composure.Larger versions were placed in temple courtyards for the next generations of passers by to admire and read the texts concerning the individual represented. This would perpetuate the memory and allow him to live again. To even utter the name would be one step closer to immortality and often a spell would be inscribed that once recited, would ensure a spiritual offering had been made. The hieroglyphs were easily and often abundantly carved on the flat surfaces created by the pose. During the last phase of Egyptian empire during the Ptolemaic period, block statues were still in use and the surfaces of some examples are festooned with inscriptions covering everything except the face. Small hole in the back not noticeable from the front or side view, could perhaps be used for hanging on a wall but displays beautifully on it’s own base as well.
